3 Little Birds – Seetha Dodd

Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ has special significance to me. It is the song my father and I danced to at my wedding. The chorus ‘Every little thing….gonna be alright’ is perhaps the original ‘Don’t worry be happy’ mantra of the ’70s.

I chose it for the dance because of my father’s love of Bob Marley, because of his three daughters who pitched by his doorstep, and because of that delicious combination of optimism and sadness that makes for beautiful poetry.

I chose it for my blog for all those reasons plus one more – my own three little birds who make it easy to smile with the risin’ sun every day. Apart from when I’d prefer a lie-in and breakfast in bed. But Bob didn’t sing about that.

My love affair with words has been constant and immensely satisfying. This blog is a place where those words can hang out, have a brief dalliance or find a regular dance partner with whom to explore and break the rules of language.
